Linux Enters the Competition
Exciting news that Red Hat Inc. has just appointed former Sun Microsystems VP Karen Tegan Padir as VP of a new desktop department for Red Hat. They want to try and develop a competing desktop environment to go head to head with Microsoft.
This is exciting because while Linux has been known to be a competing operating system, there has been little direct competition to the everyday user. Sure, Lindows is out there, but Red Hat has the muscle to put together something that could shake the world. I look forward to the battle.
