Check out this video, feuerfreimovie. While I thought the war theme was a bit much, I did like the use of the IM lingo. Alot of LOL, ROFL, AFK, etc. Very good idea.

Seems that IBM, Sony Corp and Toshiba Corp have been keeping secrets from us. They have been working on a new processsing technology since 2001 in a joint venture.
Cell will be 10 times more powerful than conventional chips and able to shepherd large chunks of data over broadband networks.
Rather than incresing the speed of processing, the goal is to create more channels of processing thereby getting more done at the same time. It’s not much different from multi-threading (multiple processors), however it supposely will have a serious impact on things to come.
We should start seeing the technology in products by May of next year.. maybe not in consumer available products, but in the shows for coming items.
Check out the source from CNNmoney.

Found a very easy way to boost the speed of FireFox over broadband. This method can be done righe from the browser and has no permanent effects….
- Load this address in FireFox: about:config
- Change the settings for "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
- Change the settings for "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
- Change the settings for "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to "30" (30 simultaneous requests)
I thought it was fast before but this really made difference.

I was tired of Windows Explorer opening to My Documents. That’s not usually the first place I need to be. Instead I would rather it open directory to the root of my C Drive. Well the trick below will show you how to do that… and it’s not difficult.
- Right-click the Windows Explorer icon from where ever you use it (Start menu, desktop, quick launch bar)
- Select the properties
- Edit the Target by adding a single space after explorer.exe followed by the location you want Explorer to start up in.
- Example:
%SystemRoot%explorer.exe C:
Using that example will cause this shortcut of Windows Explorer to open up in the C: drive rather than where it used to open.

I’ve been having a hard time with my anti-virus program. PC-Cillin used to be a great program and after recent updates, it has become extremely annoying.
This week I came across an anti-virus program that is not only ALOT less annoying… it FREE. AVG Anti-Virus has a free version with daily updates. So far, my only compaint is that it has a slow updater. This is something I can live with considering that it is free. Check it out over at grisoft.com.

I knew that AOL provided it’s user a separate IP address during each login, but did you know the IP address changes for each new page that you view?
I was programming a shopping cart. For user’s who were not registered and logged in, I would save their shopping cart in the database under their IP address. I don’t use cookies for the shopping cart products because you are limited to 20 cookies. So then I come across the problem listed above for AOL users where their IP address changes from the time they select the product to the time they view their cart. My temporary solution was to store one of their IP addresses like a user id in cookies until they havea a valid user id of their own.
Just another reason for me to raise my fists in the air each time I hear the letters "A-O-L".

I found a great article on sitepoint that goes through setup and running of PEAR’s BBCode parser. Most servers that have PHP installed will have PEAR installed so including this addon made my life better and didn’t take alot of work.
Use BB Code in Your PHP Application
OK… truthfully, I didn’t actually ‘read’ the article. I skimmed it, grabbed the useful information, put it into action, tested it. 15 minutes later I was running custom tests and watching it work. This will definitely make it into my CMS.

If you use AIM on any device.. then forget about having any rights to the messages you send or receive. The new agreement between users and AOL is as follows:
In addition, by posting Content on an AIM Product, you grant AOL, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, assigns, agents and licensees the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right to reproduce, display, perform, distribute, adapt and promote this Content in any medium. You waive any right to privacy.
That’s enough for me to never want to use AIM again.

You know.. before today I was going to turn this site into a place for me to keep good links, hints and tips, perhaps a few scripts for selling. Today, I have found that this isn’t inspiration enough to keep the site alive. Instead, let me add blog to the list of things I will post here. I am betting there are a few visitors from MODSonline.com who visit looking for insight into what’s behind the scenes.
I’ll start with the next post…..
