non-grassy knoll

So I figured something out yesterday.

As many of you know, I am working very hard to grow grass in my yard. So far, it’s been pretty successful. As long as I water the yard non-stop daily, I have new grass seed taking root and sprouting up daily. I’ve been amazed at the value of watering the yard.

Heck, before this, I used to mow my lawn once a month at most. Now I have to mow it every 5 or 6 days. That’s where the problem comes in. I don’t mind mowing the grass, but only if it helps the yard and doesn’t kill it cause issues.
As I mow the law, I have to walk across it with the mower. If I step to firmly, the grass gets squished. Perhaps in some cases, the wheels on the mower do the damage. Or if the grass cutting clump, that’s another dead spot. It turns out that I am not alone with this problem.

I spoke with a friend yesterday who has the same problem. It turns out that we are using the same grass seed. This Scotts general purpose landscapers seed is the culprit.

That’s it… I am going to head over to a real grass seed store and get myself some hardy Kentucky Blue grass.
