I keep appointments for work, life… pretty much everything. Otherwise I could end up forgetting something important. I have a smart phone with a great calendar (Windows Mobile 5). I also like using Google Calendar because it’s easily available when online (plus it’s sharable). But until now, I could sync the two calendar programs together without A LOT of work. Well, that’s changing.
What you need:
- A smart phone
- Google Calendar
- Thunderbird (link) with
- Lightning Calendar Addon (link)
- Birdie Sync (link) (search this blog for details)
- Google Calendar Provider Addon (link)
- Two additional files to fix syncronization as described in this Birdie Sync forum post (link)
One problem, however, is that recurring appointments in google are not yet properly supported. Only the first in the series will display. Hopefully that will be patched somewhere down the line.

I’ve decided to finally purchase something that’s been on my mind for many years. I decided to purchase a telescope. My wife tells me that I’ve talked about owning one for as long as she’s known me, so I guess it’s been on my mind for a long time.
Now I don’t want something that allows me to see my neighbor the moon a little bit better. I want to see planets and gallaxies. So this is no small deal. After much research and deliberation, I’ve picked up a Meade LX200R 12″ and I’ve been receiving pieces of my order all week. Apparently it takes a while to ship and it doesn’t all come at once.
Expect pictures to get posted because I plan to do more than just look at the sky. I also ordered a few attachments to all for photography of those wondrous things out there.

No, this is not a post about drugs. If that’s what you thought, then turn right around and head back through the door in which you came.
This is a post about dealing with a yard that doesn’t want my help. A yard that doesn’t mind looking green as long as that green is coming from some sort of weed.
So, I looked through my yard a couple weeks ago and saw that I can’t stop the crab grass. I called for help and was told that crab grass is annual (will die each year) and it’s too late to do anything now. Instead I will have to wait until next year.
Well I got news for you.. there is something you can do. You can literally rip up your entire yard are start fresh. I borrowed a tiller and rented a roller. Now part of my yard is nothing but dirt.
Uhmm… the problem is that I am using new muscles. hehe. I feel like I was just beat on by a gang or something. whew.
