how about a book without the face

I enjoy how I can connect with friends on Facebook. Yeah, it cool that old friends from school can find you and you can reconnect to see what’s going on. However, all those requests to “Send a Fish”, “Beer Request”, “Blue Cove”, “Pillow Fight”, blah blah blah… it’s quite annoying.

So I’m thinking to myself… wouldn’t it be cool to have the same thing as facebook, without all that nonesense. Then take it a step further and allow people the option to download and install this new version of facebook on their own server so they can expand it further than the free version. It’s kind of a cross between facebook and wordpress. The big difference is that when you post on a friends page or visa versa, that act is posted on your site as well… like facebook. So you start developing this personal community of friends where people can see who you know and how you all connect.

Like it or no?

Hmm. The problem with social networking is that no matter what site you use, there is always junk. Now to me and you, things like “Poke x y z” and “Supersoak your friend” apps are just stupid. However to the everage Joe who uses Facebook and MySpace like the world is going to end, they would be lost without them.

Your idea is good, but it’s only going to appeal to a certain amount of people. Lucky for us, we can ignore all the requests. But hey, I would give it a go.

I absolutly hate MySpace, but Facebook is definatly alot more appealing. Simply for the fact that I have found lots of friends from school again.

I agree with super ;) Now that I have Facebook, I see what you all mean. There this things I could just do without. However, the live chat and message board is perfect! It is just the apps…
